Emerald City Comicon 2007: The Set Up

With the Emerald City Comicon being a two day event, Jim and I decided to make an event out of it. I took Friday off work and got my workout done before leaving to head to the Qwest Field Event Center to set up. We took our time, stopping to eat before heading into Seattle.

We reached the Event Center at 2:30 p.m. and immediately ran into Randy and Joan Emberlin. They had been in town since the day before and were setting up at the same time we were. It was a great way to start the show to be sure. While Jim stayed at the Event Center to set up, I headed across the street to check into the Silver Cloud Hotel.

We were lucky enough to get a room on the top floor with a clear view of Safeco Field, home of the Seattle Mariners. It was fantastic. I was thrilled because we were also on the same floor they served breakfast on!

It didn't take long at all to set up so we tried to memorize the show floor and took a spin around. All around us, people scurried to get their booths ready. It was nice to see old friends and make some new acquaintances.

Our friend Brian showed up after 5 p.m. with lots of cocktail fixings so we went to the room and tried his infamous "Black Opal" cocktail. Mmmm tasty. After that we headed to the Elysian Fields Restaurant for great food and excellent beer.

Because we knew that the next day was going to be a long one, we called it an early night. I am glad now that we did because it was a busy but thrilling day!
